Ellie Wilson’s work is rooted in her personal experience with domestic abuse and her struggles within the criminal justice system. As a survivor, Ellie faced numerous obstacles in accessing justice, which fuelled her determination to fight for change. She has since become a vocal advocate for improving the system, particularly in ensuring that survivors have access to court transcripts—a vital resource for those seeking justice.

“I’m delighted to be speaking at Watkins Solicitors Domestic Abuse Conference. As a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual violence with first-hand experience of the criminal justice system, I’m eager to share my lived experience with professionals in the sector who can contribute towards positive change. The voices of survivors too often go unheard, which leads to systems and services which don’t adequately serve us—I look forward to countering this imbalance. Additionally, through sharing my campaigning and advocacy work and the role it played in my empowerment journey, I hope to dispel reductive and harmful stereotypes about survivors and showcase how personal pain can be used for systemic and societal change.”
