We are running the London marathon to raise money for Survive and the Bourne Family Centre (part of the Aid International charity). These are both really worthwhile charities working in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area. Like many small charities they have experienced funding cuts recently so could really do with a little extra.

Survive in particular is a charity close to our hearts. They work with women and children who have suffered domestic abuse. The have three refuges and do lots of preventative work with local schools. They also run the Freedom Programme in different locations which helps women break the cycle of abuse. The Freedom Programme in particular has experienced funding difficulties over the last two years.

Vicky is also hoping to break the Guinness World Record to be the fastest female runner to run the London marathon in a nurse’s costume.
